Middle Temple Library

Today we visited the Middle Temple Library!

The Middle Temple Library is a professional law library for practicing barristers. It was founded in 1641 with the donation of Robert Ashley's personal collection. Today, the library contains over 250,000 volumes covering British, Irish, EU and US legal resources. In addition, the library is home to the Molyneux Globes and an extensive collection of Prime Minister portraits.

Interestingly, the Middle Temple Library's resources are arranged and catalogued by subject. While this is common practice in other institutions, it is a recent development for the Middle Temple Library, which previously shelved items by title.
